All-American Burgers

Makes 4 burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds 85% lean ground

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (do not buy pre-shredded please) take the time to shred the cheese from a block

  • 8 strips cooked bacon, chopped fine (I used the food processor)

  • 4 tsp yellow mustard

  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 tsp table salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Break beef into small pieces in medium bowl. Add cheese, bacon, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Using a fork, toss until evenly distributed. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and lightly pack into 1 inch thick patties.

  2. When your grill is hot, dip wad of paper towels in vegetable oil and use tongs to rub over grate. Grill the burger over very hot fire, without pressing down on them, until well seared on both sides and cooked through, 8-12 minutes.

  3. Transfer to a plate, tent with foil, and let rest 5 minutes.

Serve!

Make sure to oil the grates—these burgers are too tasty to let them stick! And hold off pressing down on them until they're perfectly seared on both sides for that delicious finish!
