The Delicious and Simple Recipe for Homemade Amish Cookies

Updated: Jan 19

Last Christmas my mom got this recipe from a friend. Ms Helen is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. She is a Christian lady and loves to tell you how much she loves the Lord. When I first tasted these cookies they just melted in my mouth. This recipe makes a lot of cookies. Mom, gave me some of the dough and I made some for Christmas for our family Christmas. Everyone raved about them. I do want to warn you ahead of time though: They are addictive.

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar (granulated)
1 cup powdered sugar (10X)
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs, room temperature
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp cream of tarter
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla flavoring

Instructions
  1. Beat the butter, white sugar, powdered sugar, vegetable oil and 2 eggs together until smooth.

  2. Add cream of tarter, baking soda, salt and vanilla. Add to above ingredients. Mix.

  3. Add flour 1 cup at a time.

  4. Once mixed together well put in one gallon zip-loc bag then chill overnight

  5. Remove from the refrigerator, pinch into small balls. Place on a greased cookie sheet.

  6. Take a fork dipped into water and do a criss-cross top of the cookie to make cookies flat.

  7. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees. The cookies do not brown. They will still look pale.

What is the last step? Eat and Enjoy! Make sure to share.

Thank you mom for sharing this recipe with me.
