Canned Green Beans which you can make to taste like they came from the garden. There is a secret Ingredient!
You will have these green beans in your regular rotation of side dishes. My family has enjoyed these for years.
Green Beans
Ingredients
Can of Green Beans
1 chopped onion
2 slices of bacon, chopped
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp soy sauce - low sodium
Black Pepper - to taste
Chicken Broth
Directions
Drain Green Beans and set aside.
Chop the onion and add to pot. Cook until translucent.
Chop the bacon and add to the onions while they are cooking.
Once the bacon is done add a little chicken broth to deglaze the pot.
Add the brown sugar, soy sauce and black pepper. Stir.
Put the lid on and cook on low until the rest of your dinner is ready.
Serve.
The soy sauce adds a umami flavor which kicks it up a notch. This is my favorite way to cook canned green beans.
