Quick and Easy Recipe: Instant Pot Frozen Green Beans Fresh from the Garden

Updated: Jan 19

When I harvest the green beans from my garden I freeze them. All I have to do is reach in my freezer and grab a pack of green beans and pressure cook them. It is so easy.

I have many memories of my Grandma and my Nanny cooking fresh canned or frozen green beans. This is the one "green" vegetable I would eat. I always had more green beans on my plate than anything else because they are my favorite. To this day my perfect meal is green beans, mashed potatoes and sliced tomatoes. I could eat it everyday and never get tired of it.

Pressure Cooker Green Beans

Ingredients

  • Frozen Green Beans - however many you would like to cook

  • Couple slices of bacon - chopped

  • Onion chopped

  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth - low sodium or no salt

  • Salt and Pepper

Directions

  1. Turn on the saute feature on your Instant Pot.

  2. Once the pot gets hot saute the onion and bacon until the onion is soft.

  3. To deglaze the pot add a 1/2 cup chicken broth to pot and get all the deliciousness off the bottom.

  4. Add the green beans, brown sugar, pepper, soy sauce and the rest of the chicken of the chicken broth. I would not add the salt right now. I wait until after they are done then salt if needed.

  5. Set the Instant Pot on pressure cook for 6 minutes. Put the lid on and make sure the valve is pushed to pressure.

  6. Do a quick release. If the rest of the meal has not been completed then leave the Instant Pot and warm.

  7. Serve and enjoy!
