Scrumptious Seared Scallops with Sweet Maple Butter Sauce: A Perfectly Savory & Sweet Dish

Updated: Jan 19

Scallops have a slightly sweet, buttery flavor on their own. This recipe is going to enhance the natural goodness of them.

I have tested and tried this recipe. It is absolutely delicious.

I do not have a quote for this recipe but I gave Noah a bite and before you know it they were all gone. I got 4 out of 12. I think that says enough.

The scallops are briny, slightly sweet and buttery with a tender texture. They taste like they come from the sea but are not fishy. Scallops take on the seasoning they are cooked in so be prepared to eat a tasty dinner.

Seared Scallops with Butter, Maple Sauce

Ingredients

  1. 12 Sea Scallops

  2. 4 Tbsp Butter

  3. 1 Tbsp Olive Oil

  4. 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup

  5. Pinch Cayenne Pepper (Optional)

  6. 1 tsp Salt

  7. 1 tsp Pepper

Directions

  1. Liberally salt and pepper the scallops

  2. Melt 2 Tbsp Butter and Olive Oil in Non-Stick Skillet or Cast Iron Skillet over Medium Heat.

  3. Once butter is melted add the scallops. Sear for 3 minutes. Turn scallops over and sear for 3 minutes.

  4. Take out of the pan and put them on the serving plate. Wipe out the pan.

  5. Melt the remaining butter in the same pan. Add Maple Syrup and Cayenne Pepper.

  6. Pour sauce over scallops. Serve.

With scallops there is fine line of when they are done and when they are over cooked. Please be sure to not over cook them or they will be rubbery.

I like to serve mine with a salad and corn on the cob. Scallops and corn go really well together.

Enjoy!
